Every hero in Middengeard starts out as one of two classes. Warriors fight up close with heavy weapons and armour. Wizards cast spells from a few tiles away. Both grow stronger the same way: by levelling up through Combat.

The Warrior

Melee · Sturdy
⚔

Role

A melee fighter who stands at the front and fights up close.

Strengths

High HP and the ability to wear heavy weapons and armour make the warrior hard to bring down.

Playstyle

Walk up to your target and trade blows. Good gear and a deep pool of health let you take hits that would drop a wizard.

❖

The Wizard

Spells · Ranged
✦

Role

A spellcaster who attacks from range.

Strengths

A wizard can hit a target a few tiles away, as long as the line to it is clear, and has more mana than a warrior.

Playstyle

Keep your distance and find a clear line to your target. With less HP than a warrior, a wizard does best by not letting enemies get close.

Warrior vs Wizard

◈

A simple comparison: not exact numbers, just how the two classes differ.

Wizard

Ranged

Both classes level up through Combat, so whichever you pick, you grow stronger by fighting.

Like to fight toe to toe? Pick the warrior. Prefer to strike from a distance? Pick the wizard.

Professions

◈

Away from the fighting, both classes can take up the same professions.

Mining

Dig ores out of the rock.

Woodcutting

Chop trees to gather logs.

Smelting

Turn ore into bars.

Jewelcrafting

Jewelcrafting uses the bars you smelt.
